Transition Crich is excited to invite photographers of all ages to participate in our Capturing Natural Wonders Photo Competition.
We encourage you to showcase the incredible nature that surrounds us.
Whether you're an experienced photographer or just starting out, this is your chance to capture the beauty of the natural world and share it with others.
Join our family-friendly photography walk for tips on taking great photos. See below for details.
Competition Categories
Participants are invited to submit their photos in one of the following categories. The best entry in each category will receive a special prize.
Plants
Individuals and Populations (Plants and Fungi)
Showcase the power of plants or the fascination of fungi. As with the animal
category, we want to see images with the focus on one species
Animals & Insects
A look at a species in its environment, either alone or as a population. There can be other species in the picture, but the emphasis should clearly be on one species
People & Place
Photographs which capture the interaction between humans and nature or the special landscape of our area
How to enter
To participate, please send your photos to transitioncrich@gmail.com. Include your name, age, category and a short caption for your photo.

Eligibility & Rules
One entry per person per category.
Photos must be taken locally (within a 5 mile radius of Crich) and be your original work.
Entries must be received by the deadline of 31 May 2025.
We encourage digital entries from all forms of camera including mobile devices. Jpeg file preferred.
Entrants under the age of 16 years need to have parent or guardian consent to enter.
Winners in each category will be selected by a panel of judges.
Seek permission from any person who appears in your entry to have their image used as part of the competition.
By entering, you agree that we may share your photo at an exhibition and on our social media platforms.

Key dates & photography opportunities
4 May 2025: Family Friendly Photography Walk. Discover tips for capturing stunning images. Meet in Crich Market Place at 1.30pm, finish at Crich Stand at 3.00pm.
31 May 2025: Photography competition closing date
19 June 2025: winning entries will be announced and prizes given at the Make, Do & Mend Skill Share dedicated to Natural Wonders, 7pm, Crich Glebe Community Centre
5 & 6 July 2025: Winning entries will be displayed at St. Mary's Church as part of Crich Well Dressing celebration
